Films & Cinema Journey

Over the decades, Abhijit Lahiri has been associated with several critically acclaimed and commercially successful films, working alongside some of the most renowned actors, directors, and filmmakers in the Indian film industry.

His first film was Jayate (1978–79), directed by Hansal Mehta, in which he portrayed the character of Dr. Gandhi, the main accused. Although the film was never released, it marked the beginning of his cinematic journey.

Over the years, he appeared in numerous notable films, including Chhal (2000), Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai (2002), Hum Kaun Hai, My Wife’s Murder, Gangajal, Tango Charlie, The Rising: Mangal Pandey, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., Seher, Shaheed-E-Azam, Chupke Se, Satta, Page 3, Family, Jai Santoshi Maa, Bombay Summer, 99, Morning Walk, Pay Back, Vikalp, Back to America, Ami Subhash Bolchi, Murder 2, Not a Love Story, Talvar, O Piya Abhi Jaa, The Big Bull, Bell Bottom, Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, and The Taj Story.

He had the opportunity to work with legendary actors such as Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra in Hum Kaun Hai, Anil Kapoor in My Wife’s Murder, Ajay Devgn in Gangajal and Tango Charlie, Aamir Khan in The Rising: Mangal Pandey, Sanjay Dutt in Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., and Arshad Warsi in Seher.

Apart from feature films, Abhijit Lahiri has also worked in short films, regional cinema, and advertising campaigns, including the Bengali short film Yaari, commercials for Malabar Diamonds, Spotify, and a Cancer Awareness Day campaign.
